Mohammad Bashir FAROOQ is currently working as a Deputy of the High Peace Council Joint Secretariat. In addition, he also works as an Adviser to the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government. Bashir Farooq has a long history of working as a political analyst, first with UNAMA (2003-2006), and then with the EU Special Representative (2008-2010). In addition to these posts and various managerial roles with national and international NGOs, Bashir Farooq served as an Electoral Adviser in 2010 and 2014 and took part in developing suggestions for electoral reform as member of the Special Electoral Reforms Commission. He studied Medicine in Balkh and Kabul Universities and has a Master degree in International Peace Studies, specializing in Conflict Management at the UN mandated University for Peace (UPEACE) in Costa Rica. He has also undertaken training in Environment and Peace at the same institution.
